Propecia Linked to Sexual Dysfunction

The FDA issued a warning regarding Propecia in June 2011, linking the drug to erectile dysfunction and sexual dysfunction in men. Propecia is a medication used to treat male pattern baldness.

Various medical studies show the use of Propecia by men has been associated with the following injuries:

  • Erectile dysfunction (ED)
  • Serious or permanent sexual dysfunction

Propecia was released by Merck & Co. in 1997. Propecia is the name brand version of finasteride, a synthetic antiandrogen that prevents enzymes from converting testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT). High levels of DHT are believed to be responsible for baldness in men. However, warnings for the drug did not include long term and even permanent sexual injuries in men. Since its introduction multiple studies have now shown these serious injuries can be long-term.

If you or a loved one are currently taking or have taken Propecia and are experiencing erectile dysfunction or serious or permanent sexual dysfunction, you may be entitled to financial compensation to help with medical costs and other expenses.
