Warning: Xarelto®

Linked to Blood Clots and Stroke

Xarelto® (Rivaroxaban) is an anticoagulant or blood thinner developed by Janssen Pharmaceuticals and Bayer. Xarelto® was approved by the FDA to reduce the risk of blood clots in surgery patients and reduce the risk of stroke in patients with atrial fibrillation. It has also been approved to provide treatment for deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism.

What are the risks of taking Xarelto®?

While all blood thinners come with a risk of internal bleeding, in the event of an emergency, other anticoagulants have an antidote used to prevent serious injury. Xarelto®, however, does not have an antidote to halt uncontrollable bleeding, which may lead to hospitalization and even death.

If you or a loved one took Xarelto® and suffered serious injuries, you may be entitled to financial compensation.

Do not stop taking medication without speaking with your health care professional.

Xarelto® has been linked to other serious side effects including:

  • Blood clots

  • Gastrointestinal bleeding

  • Stroke

  • Cerebral hemorrhage

  • Abnormal liver function
